Data Download Problems
Problem: A "connection refused" message appears when clicking on the "NCAR DISK" link
(if downloading data from online storage) or when clicking on the URL link contained within the email download message
(if downloading data from deep storage).
Possible cause: You might be behind a firewall that does not allow requests to port 8080, which is the port
used by the ESG portal to serve data via the HTTP protocol. To confirm this hypothesis, please try to access the URL
http://dataportal.ucar.edu:8080: if you see a simple display message, then
problem is NOT your firewall, but if you see an error message or the connection hangs, then there is indeed a firewall problem.
Solution: You must enable port 8080 in your firewall - you might need to contact your system administrator.
